More on Med-PIE

Med-PIE, or Medical Professional Information Exchange, was established as a registered limited company in the United Kingdom in December 2015. The organisation was cofounded and led by two directors, Dr. Nikolaos Patelis and Mr. Sean Matheiken, both of whom are vascular surgeons with extensive expertise in distance learning, honed through years of collaboration with the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) e-learning team and the Royal College of Surgeons, UK.

The initiatives developed by the directors and the ESVS e-learning team were previously accessible on the esteemed website vasculareducation.com, which was quietly taken offline in 2016.

Shortly after the inception of Med-PIE, it was determined that the organisation’s efforts to create e-learning tools and server-side applications should be collaborative projects for skilled professionals. Consequently, the for-profit model was discontinued, and Med-PIE transitioned into a non-profit organization comprising health professionals with a keen interest in technology.

Currently, Med-PIE is managed by Dr. Nikolaos Patelis, who oversees an international team of colleagues dedicated to developing innovative tools that support research and various clinical or academic initiatives.
